Critique of surveillance: private sector
The six main criticisms are that information processing practices:
- discriminate among individuals in unfair ways;
- result in a distribution of costs and benefits across society that is unjust;
- create a chilling effect that leads to excessive conformity;
- lack tranparency and accountability
- fail to ensure free and informed consent to the collection and use of data;
- contribute to governmental surveillance in ways that are inadequately regulated
Do these practics harm
